Ballast watches: Inspired by submarines
The Ballast is a tank, used in submarines, to change the immersion of it or its balance. In other words, the ballasts are filled with water to immerse the submarine and release this water to return to the surface. Passionate about submarines, the founders of the Ballast brand highlight robust, precise and innovative watches. The Trafalgar collection pays tribute to the attack submarines of the same name, put into service by the Royal Navy from 1981.
Ballast watches are real watchmaking jewels. An automatic movement Miyota 21 jewels, with modified automatic winding, is used on Ballast Trafalgar watches. Its famous Jewels are inserted to reduce bearing wear and other pivot points. The brand has patented a rotating bezel, which allows to set the time and date, but also to wind the automatic movement. The automatic movement has a power reserve of more than 50 hours. Ballast watches are water resistant to 10ATM for extended immersion. The crown is protected, thanks to a camteen crown, made from 10 pieces. This crown allows maximum sealing, protecting the watch from infiltration by the crown.
The smallest details have been taken into account. The pin buckle is extremely worked, with a carved submarine on the top of the buckle. We find, screwed on the side of the case, a plate with the motto of the Royal Navy, "We Come Unseen". The straps are 4 mm thick leather and flexible, stitched along the length. Even the inner ring is carefully stamped, polished.
